I love the beautiful webs created by Orb Weaver spiders, the inspiration for this piece. A quote from a poem by Pablo Neruda is pyrographed on the gourd. It reads "I want to have a talk with the spider, I want her to weave me a star." The web is pyrographed onto the gourd, the spider body is inlaid dichroic glass, the faux basketry is carved and pyrographed. Several other types of carving were used to create surface shaping and texturing. Painted with ink dyes and acrylic paints. 10" tall #0317-13
